From the school: The Judge Rotenberg Center (JRC) is a day and residential school located in Canton, Massachusetts, licensed to serve ages five through adult. Since 1971, JRC has provided very effective education and treatment to both emotionally disturbed students with conduct, behavior, emotional, and/or psychiatric problems, as well as those with intellectual disabilities or on the autism spectrum.

AGES/GRADES: Males and females ages 5 – adult. Day and residential programs.

THERAPEUTIC SERVICES: HBehaviorally oriented education including precision teaching, direct instruction, and programmed instruction. Unparalleled reinforcement structure tailored to the individual needs of each client. Extensive data collection systems allow for thorough behavioral assessment and captures a complete picture of the problem behaviors. State-of-the-art charting system allows precise evaluation of treatment interventions. Supplementary behavioral counseling including cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and dialectical behavior therapy.

THERAPEUTIC ORIENTATION: Behavioral psychology and its applications to both education and treatment.

POPULATION SERVED: Autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, mood disorders, conduct disorders, among others. The common feature that unites JRC clients is the presence of severe and treatment refractory problem behaviors.

COMMENTS: JRC maintains a near-zero rejection policy and will accept and treat people regardless of the nature of the behavior problem. We offer a wide range of behavioral interventions designed to reduce problem behaviors, increase functional skills, and improve quality of life. Each behavioral program is designed by a licensed psychologist, licensed behavior analyst, licensed mental health counselor, board certified behavior analyst, or other qualified clinician. Psychotropic medications are minimized or eliminated when appropriate. Our educational program is licensed by the MA department of Early and Secondary Education.
