ASD has continued to accept admission referrals and placements during the COVID-19 pandemic.
AGES/GRADES: Males and females ages 3-21(approved for up to age 22, depending on the referring State). Commuter and residential students (5 or 7-day), 10/12 month educational and therapeutic programs, and 3-7 week Extended School Year programs available.
THERAPEUTIC SERVICES: The Positive Attitudes Concerning Education and Socialization Residential Treatment Program (PACES) at the American School for the Deaf provides individual, group, and family therapeutic services across all milieus.
THERAPEUTIC ORIENTATION: PACES has a trauma informed, strengths-based framework, which includes specialized therapeutic modalities including art, music, mindfulness and Animal Assisted Therapy. PACES is a CT State Department of Education/Special Education Resources Center (SDE/SERC) Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Model Demonstration Program.
POPULATION SERVED: Deaf and hard of hearing general population, including deaf children and youth with special needs, social and behavioral challenges, and hearing, non-verbal children on the Autism Spectrum.
LICENSURE: The Departments of Education, and/or licensed and approved by agencies in CT, CA, DE, MA, MD, ME, MN, MT, NH, NJ, NY, RI, TN, TX, VA, and VT.
