Massachusetts and Vermont nix legalized psychedelics for now
Both Massachusetts and Vermont dealt blows to the legalization of psychedelics for therapeutic purposes in November.
On election day, Massachusetts voters rejected a ballot measure 57% to 43% that would have decriminalized the use of natural psychedelics such as psilocybin under licensed supervision for anyone over age 21.
Then, in a report published Nov. 12, Vermont’s Psychedelic Therapy Advisory Working Group announced that after four months of study, it would not support the creation of a state-backed program for therapeutic use of psilocybin mushrooms, opting instead for further study.
